Elizabeth K. Markovits is a Professor of Politics at Mount Holyoke College and serves as the Associate Provost and Associate Dean of Faculty. Her interdisciplinary work bridges ancient and contemporary political thought, with a focus on Plato, Aristotle, feminist theory, and democratic governance. She has published extensively on rhetoric, justice, and intergenerational ethics through classical Greek tragedy and comedy.

Her research examines the intersection of ancient philosophy and modern democratic challenges, including gender equity, participatory politics, and sovereign authority. Markovits' academic output spans political theory, classical literature, and civic engagement. She investigates sovereignty through Greek tragedy, critiques of realism, and temporal dynamics in governance. Her work also addresses feminist political theory and rhetorical analysis.
