Elizabeth Greeno

Elizabeth Greeno is an Associate Research Professor at the University of Connecticut's Innovations Institute, specializing in federally-funded child welfare research with emphases on foster care systems, LGBTQ+ youth services, and family reunification initiatives.

Dr. Greeno leads two National Quality Improvement Centers: one addressing tailored services for LGBTQ+ children in foster care, and another focused on family-centered reunification. She serves as principal investigator for the Thrive@25 Children's Bureau grant targeting homelessness prevention among youth aging out of foster care, and directs a randomized control trial evaluating motivational interviewing efficacy with child welfare students. Her collaborative work extends to the University of Maryland School of Social Work's Title IV-E Education Program and Delaware's perinatal addiction services evaluation with Families First, Inc.

Complementing her academic role, Dr. Greeno maintains a private clinical practice in Harford County, Maryland, providing therapeutic services for adolescents, LGBTQ+ populations, and family reunification support for former foster youth. Her clinical expertise includes therapeutic case management for children with comorbid mental health and substance use disorders within child welfare systems.

Educational background includes a PhD and MSW from the University of Maryland School of Social Work and a BSW from Salisbury State University.
