Elizabeth Foster is a Professor in the Department of History at Tufts University. She specializes in the history of modern France and the French Empire, with a focus on colonial West Africa, religious interactions, and global historical frameworks.

Her research spans colonial history, European/global history, and religious dynamics in imperial contexts. She teaches courses on Modern France, the French Revolution, France-Africa relations, World Wars, and global Empires and Nations.
Professor Foster has authored two notable books: Faith in Empire, analyzing French colonial rule through religious interactions in Senegal (1880–1940), and African Catholic, examining decolonization's impact on Catholicism and post-colonial ties between Europe and Africa.
