Dr Elizabeth Eger is Reader Emerita at King's College London's Department of English within the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. Her academic career spanned roles including co-founder of the Centre for Enlightenment Studies and creator of the MA in Eighteenth-Century Studies. Her research focuses on 18th-century cultural history, feminist literary theory, and material culture, particularly examining the Bluestocking Circle's intellectual and social contributions.
Notable achievements include co-curating the National Portrait Gallery's 'Brilliant Women: 18th-Century Bluestockings' exhibition (2008), which received international acclaim and a major book publication. She has authored influential works such as Bluestockings: Women of Reason from Enlightenment to Romanticism (2010) and Bluestockings Displayed (2013). Her current research includes a biography of Elizabeth Montagu for Oxford University Press.
