Dr. Daniel O’Quinn is a Professor in the School of Theatre, English, and Creative Writing at the University of Guelph, located in Guelph, Ontario. His research focuses on 18th-century culture, particularly British imperialism, trans-Atlantic studies, literary theory, romanticism, and performance studies. He is also deeply engaged with historical analyses of race, class, sexuality, and gender.
Dr. O’Quinn has edited multiple 18th-century travel narratives, including works by Mirza Abu Taleb Khan, Lady Elizabeth Craven, and Lady Mary Wortley Montagu. His current project, After Peace: Untimely Encounters in Ottoman Lands, explores the intersection of diplomacy and artistic practice in relation to war and global modernity. His scholarly articles appear in journals such as ELH, Studies in Eighteenth-Century Culture, and Theatre Journal.
His work bridges literature, performance, and postcolonial studies, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to understanding historical and cultural dynamics.
