Elizabeth Dickson

Dr. Elizabeth Dickson is an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in the School of Law, part of the Faculty of Business & Law. She holds a PhD in Law from the University of Queensland and has extensive experience in legal education and research. Her roles include Discrimination Contact Officer for QUT and Chair of the QUT Disability Services Working Party.

Dr. Dickson’s qualifications include a PhD, Graduate Diploma in Education, Bachelor of Laws (Honours Class 1), and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours Class 2A), all from the University of Queensland. She has taught law and education in both university and school settings, including state and independent sectors.

Her research focuses on Education Law, Discrimination Law, Disability Rights, and Children’s Rights. Key projects include analyzing legal frameworks for inclusion, such as her PhD thesis on the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld) and its impact on students with disabilities. She co-edited the International Journal of Law and Education for eight years and contributes to policy advocacy through roles like Executive Committee member of the Australia and New Zealand Education Law Association (Queensland Chapter).

Her recent publications address legal barriers to inclusion, pandemic-related law for older Australians, and fair assessment practices for students with disabilities. She leads a research project (Effective Teacher-Based Assessment Adjustments for Students with Disability, DP150101679) funded by the Australian Competitive Grant scheme. She also supervises doctoral research on compulsory education laws.

Dr. Dickson actively engages with educational equity and disability rights, bridging legal theory and practical policy implementation in schools and universities.
