Dr Elizabeth Deans is the Assistant Director at the Ax:son Johnson Centre for the Study of Classical Architecture and an affiliated staff member at the University of Cambridge's Department of History of Art. She specializes in early modern European architectural history, focusing on drawings, manuscripts, and the material culture of architectural practice in 17th-century England.
Her research examines Christopher Wren's drawing practices and the administrative innovations of the Royal Office of Works. She previously held roles as Director of Graduate Studies and Assistant Professor at George Washington University, where she also led the MA in Decorative Art and Design History with the Smithsonian. She has taught at institutions in the US, Europe, China, and Japan.

- Expertise: Architectural training methods, office administration in early modern Britain, and material culture of architectural production
Awards & Funding: Multiple fellowships and grants from institutions including the Paul Mellon Centre and Bodleian Library. Her doctoral work on Wren and his pupils was supported by the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain.
