Dr. Elizabeth Ashworth serves as a Lecturer at Nipissing University, where she has held a full-time faculty position since 2003 after joining as a part-time instructor in 1997. Her academic credentials include a Doctorate from the University of Glasgow (2010), Master of Education from Nipissing University (2005), and dual Bachelor degrees (Arts and Education) from Queen's University.
Her educational journey began in K-12 settings: teaching art, language arts, and social studies in Manitoba and Ontario from 1987, including 14 years at West Ferris Secondary School where she led the art, music, and drama department for nine years. This practical experience directly informs her scholarly focus.
Research centers on Elementary Art Education and Graphic Design in Education, specifically examining how visual design strategies enhance learning outcomes. Her work bridges pedagogical theory with artistic practice, emphasizing accessibility in elementary curricula.
Beyond academia, Dr. Ashworth maintains active interests in bagpiping and photography, balancing these with family life alongside her husband Paul and golden retriever Shankly.
