Elizabeth A. Wood is the Ford International Professor of History at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She serves as founding director of the MIT Ukraine Program, co-director of the MIT-Eurasia Program, and Coordinator of Russian Studies. Additionally, she advises the Russian Language Program and was previously chair of MIT's Women’s and Gender Studies Program and co-chair of the Graduate Consortium in Women’s Studies.

Her research focuses on Russian and Soviet history, gender politics, performative justice, and contemporary Eastern European studies. She has explored topics ranging from Soviet women’s sections (Zhenotdel) to the gendered dynamics of Putin’s autocracy.
Her publications include analyses of U.S.-Russian scientific partnerships, memory politics under Putin, and the intersection of gender with authoritarianism. She actively mentors students through programs like UROP and teaches courses on Russian studies, Ukrainian history, and gender perspectives.
