Elizabeth A. Martin is an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Science and Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). She holds affiliations with the Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory and the HiTOP Workgroup. Her research focuses on adult psychopathology, schizotypy, schizophrenia, social anhedonia, and nosology. She leads the Behaviors, Emotions, and Affective Neuroscience (BEAN) lab, which investigates emotional and social dysfunction in psychosis-spectrum disorders.
Dr. Martin earned her Ph.D. from the University of Missouri. Her work bridges clinical psychology and neuroscience, emphasizing precision phenotyping and biological correlates of psychopathology. She serves as Associate Editor for Assessment and on the editorial board of Schizophrenia Bulletin.
Her recent research highlights include:
- Developing hierarchical taxonomies for psychopathology classification.
- Examining electrophysiological markers of psychosis risk (e.g., ERP abnormalities).
- Investigating racial disparities in psychosis-related stigma and outcomes.
Dr. Martin collaborates extensively on NIH-funded grants, focusing on early intervention for psychosis and improving diagnostic frameworks. She mentors students in clinical and translational research through UCI’s graduate programs.
