Eliza Rose is an Assistant Professor and Laszlo Birinyi Sr. Fellow of Central European Studies at Columbia University. Her work bridges visual cultures, literature, and science fiction in Poland and East Central Europe.

Her research examines how technological and scientific shifts in late-socialist Poland influenced collective futures through art festivals and amateur film clubs. She also writes science fiction, with stories published in Interzone and The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction.
Recent publications analyze Polish drama, cinematic ecologies, and Soviet-American biospheric thinking. She teaches courses on Central Europe, automation in fiction, and Polish language.
