Elissa Waters is a Lecturer in Human Geography at Monash University, specializing in the social and political dimensions of climate change adaptation and disaster governance. Her research focuses on policy development for climate adaptation in Australia and Pacific atoll states, with 15+ years of government collaboration experience. She holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne (2019) and contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to climate action and sustainable communities.
Education: PhD in Human Geography, University of Melbourne (2019).
Research Interests: Climate change adaptation, disaster governance, political geography of small island states, coastal management, and international development. Recent projects include leading the National Climate Risk Assessment (NCRA) and the Resilient and Sustainable Islands Initiative Phase III.
