Elisabeth Heine

Dr. Elisabeth Heine is a biologist specializing in microbiology and serves as the Head of the DWI microbiology laboratory (Safety Level 2). She leads research focused on antimicrobial surface functionalization, probiotic applications for skin health, and bio-based coatings for textiles. Since 2012, she has also been the Equal Opportunities Officer at DWI, promoting institutional equity. Her work spans developing anti-adhesive coatings, probiotic-based therapies, and advanced materials to combat bacterial pathogens.
