Elisabeth Barratt Hacking is the Deputy Head of the Department of Education at the University of Bath and a Lecturer in Education with over 20 years of experience. She specializes in Environmental Education, Global Citizenship Education, and posthuman theory, focusing on children’s environmental experiences and participatory methodologies. Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in climate adaptation and education.
Research interests include childhoodnature, children as active researchers, and curriculum development. She leads the 'Get Up and Move! Collective' and has collaborated on projects funded by the ESRC and UK charities. Notable projects include evaluations of educational initiatives and curriculum development for schools and higher education.
Her recent publications explore collaborative writing, climate change competence in teachers, and posthumanist methodologies. Advising and grants highlight her role in supervising 14 research projects and securing funding from bodies like AstraZeneca and NHS Severn Deanery. She is affiliated with the Centre for Qualitative Research and the Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change.
