Dr. Eliran Arazi is a Visiting Scholar in the Department of Social Anthropology, conducting research on Indigenous participation in REDD+ carbon offset markets in the Amazon and examining how ontological questions of distributed agency across species intersect with language, kinship, and ethics.
His educational background includes:
- PhD in Social Anthropology (2024) from École des hautes études en sciences sociales and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, based on ethnographic fieldwork with the Andoque people of the Colombian Amazon.
- M.A. on the interrelations between notions of honor and shame and ritual purity in ancient Judea.
Eliran's research interests span Social Anthropology, Indigenous Studies, Human-Nonhuman Relations, Environmental Anthropology, Political Ecology, and Amazonian Ethnography, with current work focusing on anthropological dimensions of climate change initiatives and Indigenous knowledge in environmental governance.
