Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Scienceمعرفی
Elina Jerschow, M.D., M.S., is a Professor of Immunology and Medicine at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota. She serves as Consultant in the Division of Allergic Diseases and Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine, and is Chair of the Division of Allergic Diseases. Her research and clinical work are centered on Aspirin-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (AERD), chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyposis, and asthma.
Education:
- MD, University of Vienna, Austria
- Master of Science - Clinical Research, Albert Einstein College of Medicine (with distinction)
- Clinical Fellowship, Allergy and Immunology, Montefiore Medical Center
- Residency, Internal Medicine, Jacobi Medical Center
- Research Fellow, Dermatology, University of California, San Francisco
Dr. Jerschow's research focuses on the immune mechanisms underlying AERD, particularly the role of CD4+ T cells, epithelial barrier integrity, and eicosanoid/oxylipin metabolism. Her lab also investigates the microbiome's influence on nasal polyp inflammation and aims to identify novel therapeutic targets for AERD and related conditions. Her recent publications highlight trends in sex differences in respiratory disease, genetic associations with AERD, and the impact of structural barriers on biologic access in asthma.
Scientific Awards and Honors:
- Elected Member, Leo M. Davidoff Society (2021)
- Super Doctor, New York Times Super Doctors (2016)
- Visiting Professorship, AERD Center of Excellence, Harvard (2017)
- KL2 Mentored Clinical and Translational Scientist Development Award (2012)
- Elected Fellow, American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (2014)
Dr. Jerschow has served on the USMLE Microbiology and Immunology Committee, NIH study sections, and scientific advisory boards for Sanofi, Regeneron, and GSK. She mentors junior faculty and leads the Aspirin-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease Lab at Mayo Clinic, where she integrates immunology, genomics, and microbiome analysis to advance personalized medicine for allergic diseases.
Laboratory and Team: The Aspirin-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease Lab at Mayo Clinic collaborates with researchers in immunology, genomics, and respiratory medicine. The team employs cutting-edge techniques to study immune responses, cellular mechanisms, and microbial interactions in AERD, aiming to bridge basic science with clinical applications.
