Elifcan Öztekin is a Researcher at the Department of Foreign Language Education, Faculty of Education, Boğaziçi University, Istanbul, Turkey. She holds a Ph.D. (2023), M.A. (2016), and B.A. (2013), all in Foreign Language Education from the same institution. Her research focuses on multilingualism, language aptitude, metacognitive strategies, and English as a Lingua Franca (ELF), with a particular interest in applied linguistics and second language acquisition.
Key research interests include exploring how multilingual experience influences language proficiency, investigating the role of working memory and language aptitude in language learning, analyzing ELF-aware pedagogical practices in coursebooks, and promoting intercultural sensitivity in higher education through technology-enhanced projects.
She has contributed to international projects such as the ENACT and ILTERG initiatives, focusing on educational technology and language teacher education. Her work has been presented at global conferences like the European Second Language Association (EUROSLA), American Association for Applied Linguistics (AAAL), and British Association for Applied Linguistics (BAAL).
Öztekin’s research bridges theory and practice, addressing topics like metacognitive listening strategies, morphosyntactic knowledge in advanced L2 learners, and the potential of university faculties for research innovation. She actively collaborates with institutions in Portugal, the UK, and Turkey, emphasizing multilingual and multicultural contexts.
