Elif Babül is a Professor of Anthropology and Nexus Track Chair for Law, Public Policy, and Human Rights at Mount Holyoke College. She holds affiliations with the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Department of Asian Studies, and The Nexus Program. Her work focuses on political and legal anthropology, migration management, and human rights politics in Turkey.

Dr. Babül's research examines transnational bureaucracies and the complexities of EU-Turkey harmonization processes. She analyzes how legal frameworks intersect with migration policies in Turkish courts and investigates knowledge production in the "post-truth" era through her co-edited volume project.
Her recent publications explore topics including compulsory guesthood and authoritarian control of academia. Funded by prestigious organizations like Wenner-Gren Foundation and American Research Institute in Turkey, her work has appeared in top journals including American Ethnologist and Journal of Royal Anthropological Institute.
