Dr. Elie Matar is a Horizon Fellow and NHMRC Investigator Fellow at the University of Sydney's Central Clinical School, Faculty of Medicine and Health. He is also a Consultant Neurologist and Sleep Physician at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. His academic roles include co-leading the University of Sydney Clinical Teaching Fellowship Program and contributing to medical education reforms such as the MD 2020 curriculum.

Research Interests: Dr. Matar leads a translational research program focusing on:
- Neurodegenerative disorders (Lewy body diseases, Parkinson’s, dementia)
- Sleep-wake circuitry dysfunction and its clinical manifestations
- Neuroimaging, electrophysiology, and biomarkers for disease progression
Publications & Grants: Over 80 peer-reviewed articles and grants including NHMRC Investigator Grants and Defense Department funding. Recent work includes studies on REM sleep behavior disorder, Lewy body dementia progression, and sleep interventions in neurodegenerative conditions.
