Eliane de Larminat is an Associate Professor at Paris Cité University specializing in photography and visual culture, with a particular focus on American photographic history and urban environments. She serves as Co-director of the Arts and Visual Culture axis of LARCA (2022-present) and is a member of the editorial board of the journal Interfaces (2020-present).
Her research spans photographic history, urban representation, and the relationship between institutional and vernacular photography. De Larminat's work particularly examines photography in the United States, urban environments and their visual representations, and the institutional/vernacular relationship in photographic uses linked to urban spaces. Her current research focuses on photographs in Muhammad Speaks and the relationship between photographic practices and urban contexts.
