Eliana Perrin, MD, MPH, is a Bloomberg Distinguished Professor at Johns Hopkins University with dual appointments in the School of Nursing and School of Medicine (Department of Pediatrics). She joined Johns Hopkins in 2021 after founding Duke University's Center for Childhood Obesity Research. Her research focuses on evidence-based tools for pediatric obesity prevention, health disparities reduction, and primary care innovation, particularly through the development of the 'Greenlight' low-literacy intervention program. She holds affiliate roles in the Center for Equity in Child and Youth Health, Hopkins Housing & Health Collaborative, and Hopkins Population Center.
Her research integrates qualitative and quantitative methods to address childhood obesity drivers, including clinical tools (e.g., color-coded growth charts), social determinants, health communication, and biomedical markers. She investigates intersections between media messaging, family dynamics, and health behaviors in vulnerable populations.
Recent publications (2021) demonstrate a focus on health literacy interventions, COVID-19 impacts on immigrant families, behavioral health assessment frameworks, parenting stress, and computational pharmacology for pediatric obesity. This work consistently addresses health equity through community-engaged methodologies.
