Eli Støa is a Professor and Vice Dean for Research at NTNU's Department of Architecture and Planning, part of the Faculty of Architecture and Fine Arts. She holds a Dr. ing. from NTNU (1996) and an Architect degree from NTH (1984). Her research focuses on sustainable housing, social sustainability, and the interplay between housing design and societal values. Notable projects include BOPILOT (2018–2022), a public-sector innovation initiative, and studies on carbon-neutral neighborhoods (e.g., Brøset in Trondheim) and asylum seeker housing quality.
Education: Architect (NTH, 1984); Dr. ing. in Housing Architecture (NTNU, 1996). Research Competencies: Living conditions, residential architecture, and social sustainability. She has led interdisciplinary projects on housing quality for refugees and carbon-neutral urban planning. International collaborations include visiting roles at the University of Westminster (2010–2011) and KU Leuven (2015–2016).

Recent work emphasizes historical housing experiments (e.g., Rosenborg), cooperative housing models, and innovative solutions for affordable urban living.
