Dr. Elham Ahmadzadeh is a Postdoctoral Scientist at The Ritchie Centre, Hudson Institute of Medical Research, Monash University. She holds a PhD in Medicine from Monash University (Awarded 13 Jul 2023). Her research focuses on neurodevelopmental physiology, particularly fetal and neonatal brainstem injury, with an emphasis on cardiorespiratory dysfunction caused by fetal growth restriction, hypoxia, and preterm birth. She aims to develop neuroprotective therapies targeting serotonergic neurons critical for cardiorespiratory control.
Education: PhD in Medicine (Monash University, 2023). Key collaborations include studies on fetal growth restriction’s impact on brainstem and cardiorespiratory systems. Research areas include neuroanatomy, neurobiology, and serotonergic system mechanisms.
Publications span 2016–2025, with recent work addressing hippocampal neurodevelopment and brainstem pathology under fetal growth restriction. Her earlier studies explored genetic mouse models and biomaterials for regenerative applications.
Labs/Teams: Active within The Ritchie Centre, focusing on translational neurodevelopmental research.
