Miss Elena Martellozzo is a Professor of Criminology and Director of Policing (DoP) at the Centre for Policing within the Faculty of Business and Law at Middlesex University. Her work spans three campuses: London, Dubai, and Mauritius. With over 20 years of research focus on cybercrime, online victimology, and cyber policing, she emphasizes digital methods to combat crimes involving children and young people. Her expertise includes content moderation challenges, online child sexual abuse prevention, and pandemic-era policing adaptations.
Her teaching career includes guest lectures at prestigious institutions globally, such as the Universities of LUMSA (Italy), Warsaw (Poland), and Seoul (South Korea). Her research outputs address critical issues like content moderators’ mental health, CSAM regulation, and stalking behavior during the pandemic. She has collaborated with international agencies and authored influential books and journal articles on cybercrime and victimology.
Her work highlights the intersection of technology and crime, advocating for stronger regulatory frameworks and support systems for digital workers. She has pioneered studies on police responses to cyberstalking and the societal impacts of online pornography on youth.
