Elena Kosygina is a Professor of Mathematics at Baruch College, City University of New York (CUNY), and holds an affiliation with the CUNY Graduate Center (on scholar incentive leave for 2024-2025). Her research focuses on probability theory, stochastic processes, and partial differential equations, with a particular emphasis on random walks in random media, self-interacting processes, and stochastic homogenization of Hamilton-Jacobi equations.

Notable contributions include studies on the behavior of entropy in hydrodynamic limits, homogenization techniques for Hamilton-Jacobi equations, and analyses of self-interacting processes like cookie walks and frog models.
Awards and grants include the Simons Fellowship in Mathematics (2014–2015), multiple Simons Collaboration Grants (2011–2024), and a PSC CUNY Award (2021–2022). She has advised at least one PhD student, Omar Chakhtoun (2019), and collaborates actively with institutions like the Courant Institute and Columbia University.
