Elena Gonzalez-Polledo is a Lecturer in Anthropology at Goldsmiths, University of London. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from Goldsmiths (2010) and has held postdoctoral and teaching roles at institutions including the London School of Economics. Her research focuses on gender theory, science and technology studies, and digital anthropology. Current projects include ethnographies of biotechnological experimentation and global bioinformation studies.
Key research interests include bioinformation systems, chronic pain data analysis, and queer anthropological frameworks. She co-edits the Routledge book series Theorizing Ethnography and has led projects funded by the Wellcome Trust and EU FP7. Notable publications include Worlding Biodata (2025) and Queer and Trans Life (2025).
Recipient of the 2020 Ruth Benedict Prize for co-editing Queering Knowledge. Supervised research student Tim Trodd in anthropology. Active in interdisciplinary collaborations, including machine learning applications for health data analysis.
