Elena Giusti is Assistant Professor of Latin at the University of Cambridge and a Fellow of St John’s College. She holds degrees from the University of Rome La Sapienza (BA, MA) and King’s College Cambridge (PhD).
- Education: BA/MA in Classics, University of Rome La Sapienza; PhD in Classics, King’s College Cambridge.
Her research focuses on Roman literature, particularly Augustan authors like Virgil, integrating postcolonial, feminist, and ideological critique frameworks. She explores intersections between Latin literature and political/historical thought, as well as comparative studies between Greco-Roman and Eastern Classics, especially Japanese reception.
Recent publications include Africa and the Making of Classical Literature (2023) and Rac(ializ)ing Dido (2023), addressing decolonizing pedagogy and racialized interpretations of Virgil’s Aeneid. She supervises graduate projects on Latin literature, classical reception, and cross-cultural comparisons.
