Elena Ambrosetti

Elena Ambrosetti is a Professor of Demography at the MEMOTEF Department of Sapienza University of Rome. Her research focuses on international migration in Italy, migrants' integration, Mediterranean demography, and fertility transition in Egypt with a gender perspective. She employs quantitative methods and collaborates on multidisciplinary projects. Notable works include a co-edited book on Mediterranean ageing (Routledge, 2017) and a highly cited paper on refugee integration in Lombardy’s labor market (International Migration, 2022). She has held visiting researcher positions, including at the Swiss Forum for Migration and Population Studies (2025). Awards include Wiley’s Top Cited Article (2024). Her teaching spans demography courses at Sapienza and EPFL, addressing Mediterranean demographic challenges and migration perceptions.
