Elena Abend is a Teaching Professor and Head of Piano Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts. A graduate of The Juilliard School (B.M., M.M.), she was awarded the William Schuman Prize for outstanding achievement. As a concert pianist, she has performed globally at venues including London’s Royal Festival Hall, Carnegie Hall, and the Teatro Teresa Carreño in Venezuela, collaborating with ensembles like the Fine Arts Quartet and Milwaukee Musaik.
Her scholarly focus spans solo and chamber piano repertoire, with specialized expertise in Latin American music—performed extensively with the Elisio Duo. Pedagogically, she directs piano studies at UWM and teaches at the Collaborative Piano Institute and New England Music Camp. She has recorded for Avie and Albany Records, and contributed to educational publications for Hal Leonard.
