Dr. Eleftheria Triviza serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Economics within Utrecht University's Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance, while concurrently holding a visiting researcher position at Erasmus School of Economics' Department of Applied Economics in Rotterdam.
She earned her Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Bologna under the supervision of Professors Vincenzo Denicolò and Francesca Barigozzi, establishing her foundation in microeconomic theory and empirical analysis.
Her research program centers on behavioral industrial organization, examining how individuals' historical experiences shape consumption patterns, time preferences, and savings behavior. Through rigorous microeconometric methods, she investigates how firms strategically leverage these behavioral patterns, with significant contributions to understanding health-related economic decisions and addictive goods markets. Her work bridges theoretical industrial organization with real-world behavioral phenomena.
Triviza's 2024 publications reveal a cohesive research trajectory exploring the long-term economic impacts of early life conditions. Her studies span health economics (food consumption and health outcomes), intertemporal choice (savings behavior), and strategic pricing (addictive goods), consistently demonstrating how historical experiences create persistent behavioral patterns that firms can strategically exploit.
Her teaching portfolio includes Microeconomics: The Real-World Perspective, reflecting her applied research orientation. Based at Adam Smith Hall in Utrecht, she maintains active research collaborations across Dutch economic institutions.
