Eleanor Woodhouse is an Associate Professor of Public Policy at University College London (UCL) within the Department of Political Science and School of Public Policy. She holds a PhD in Public Policy and Administration (cum laude) from Bocconi University, a Master’s in Modern European Studies from UCL, and a BA in French and Italian from Oxford University. Her research focuses on comparative politics, public administration, and governance, particularly examining how agency relations function in modern governance structures. Key areas include public-private partnerships (PPPs), electoral systems, and corruption dynamics.
Dr. Woodhouse previously held a Max Weber postdoctoral fellowship at the European University Institute and worked at the European Commission’s Directorate-General of Education and Culture. She is a recipient of the Fulbright-Schuman Fellowship (2016/2017). Her work bridges theoretical political science with practical governance challenges, emphasizing empirical analysis through experimental and comparative methodologies.
Her research has explored topics such as the distributive politics of PPPs, the impact of electoral accountability on local corruption in Italy, and the relationship between electoral rules and women’s political representation. She has published in leading journals like Journal of Public Policy and Comparative Political Studies, and co-authored Partnership Communities (Cambridge University Press, 2021). Teaching focuses on policy-making processes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
