Eleanor Slade is a Lecturer in scenography at Staffordshire University's Digital, Tech, Innovation & Business school. Her work bridges academic research and professional practice in theatre, opera, and community-based arts. She holds a PhD in Theatre (Scenography, planned submission 2023), an MA in Ensemble Theatre (Distinction, Rose Bruford College), and an undergraduate Drama degree with a specialization in Design for Performance from the University of Kent.
- Expertise: Scenography, set/costume design, collaborative performance-making, Theatre in Education, and socially engaged community projects.
- Research focuses on social dimensions of scenography, ensemble practices, and expanded scenographic strategies.
Her professional career spans 15+ years, including work with national arts funding bodies (Arts Council England, Heritage Lottery Fund), international companies, and government-led creative programs. She is a member of TaPRA, IFTR, Equity, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Teaching specialties include scenographic thinking for non-designers, collaborative creation processes, and academic writing methodologies.
