Eleanor Kashouris is a Senior Research Assistant at Northumbria University within the School of Social Work, Education & Community Wellbeing. Her current work focuses on improving acute stroke care through the NIHR-funded SAMueL-3 project led by Dr. Jason Scott. Previously, she held the Mildred Blaxter Postdoctoral Fellowship at Newcastle University, researching the sociology of diagnosis in women’s health with Dr. Gethin Rees. She contributed to the Wellcome Trust-funded 'Marginalisation and the Microbe' project at the University of Sussex, addressing equitable approaches to Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
- Education: PhD in Sociology and Criminology from the University of Sussex (2023), focusing on inflammatory responses related to UTI and AMR.
- Teaching Experience: Taught courses on the Sociology of Health and Illness and Sociological Theory in both Sociology Departments and Medical Schools.
Her research interests center on equitable mobilizations against AMR, diagnostic practices in healthcare, and the intersection of public health policy with marginalized communities. She explores how AMR interventions can avoid exacerbating health inequalities while fostering collective action among patients, clinicians, and policymakers.
- Professional Affiliations: Member of the British Sociological Association and the Advisory Committee on Antimicrobial Prescribing, Resistance, and Healthcare-Associated Infections (APRHAI).
Eleanor’s work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing global health equity and responsible antimicrobial use. Her interdisciplinary approach bridges sociological theory with practical healthcare challenges, particularly in妇科 and infectious disease management.
