Dr. Eleanor Bryant is an Associate Professor in the School of Social Sciences at the University of Bradford, affiliated with the Faculty of Management, Law & Social Sciences. As the Psychology Research Lead, she co-leads the Wolfson Centre for Applied Health Research and the Centre for Applied Educational Research (CAER). Her work focuses on mental health in children and young people, with particular emphasis on psychological and behavioral factors influencing emotional wellbeing, eating behaviors, and body image. She co-led a successful £2.5M NIHR Mental Health Leader Award grant to strengthen research capacity in mental health and applied psychology.
Her research spans eating behavior traits like disinhibition, appetite regulation, and the impact of bariatric surgery on psychological wellbeing. She developed the Child Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire (CTFEQr17), validated in multiple languages. She also co-leads the AHRC-funded Dying 2 Talk project, co-producing resources to support young people in discussing death and bereavement. Dr. Bryant’s international collaborations include studies on weight loss success and psychological wellbeing.
Key achievements include the NIHR grant, validation of psychometric tools (e.g., CTFEQr17 and PFIS), and contributions to public health interventions. She actively bridges clinical practice, education, and policy to address mental health challenges in youth.
