Her research investigates how social environments (e.g., schools, homes, cross-cultural contexts) shape cognitive development, particularly in low-income settings like Nicaragua, and examines relational attention biases, motivation-emotion dynamics, and educational anxiety. The SEED Lab emphasizes collaborative student research and real-world applications.
The selected articles reflect trends in developmental trajectories, cross-cultural cognitive studies, and educational psychology. They highlight methodologies like eye tracking, relational reasoning experiments, and protective factor analysis in diverse populations.
Elayne teaches courses in research methods, motivation/emotion, and developmental psychology, fostering hands-on statistical and experimental training.
The SEED Lab is a hub for interdisciplinary research on child cognition and education, offering opportunities for students to engage in early development studies and cross-cultural analysis.
