Dr. Ekaterina Trachsel is a theatre scholar and practitioner affiliated with the University of Hildesheim's Institute for Media, Theatre and Popular Culture within the Faculty of Cultural Studies & Aesthetic Communication. She holds a PhD from the University of Hildesheim and has served as a research associate there since 2017. Her roles include coordinating the Bachelor's program in Applied Theatre Studies and teaching contemporary dramaturgy.
Education: B.A. in Scenic Arts (2014), M.A. in Staging of Arts and Media (2017), both from University of Hildesheim. Postdoc affiliation with DFG Graduiertenkolleg 2477 (Aesthetic Practice).
Research focuses on de-montage processes in theatre, institutional change, and intersectional aesthetics. Collaborations includenota e.V., VOLL:MILCH, and Scotland-Lower Saxony archiving initiatives. Awards include prizes for 'TERREUR' (2016) and refugee-focused 'Refugee Homecare' (2015).
Key projects: Digital archiving platform 'notanarchive', 'Monster Cycle' performances, and cross-cultural theatre collaborations. Active in postcolonial discourse through networks like PostHeimat.
