معرفی
Eivind Ystrøm is a Professor of Personality Psychology at the University of Oslo’s Department of Psychology and leads the genetics research group (GeoGen) at PROMENTA Research Center. His work focuses on gene-environment interplay, particularly how socioeconomic status and genetic factors influence mental health and educational outcomes across generations. He leads major grants including the ERC Consolidator project on intergenerational mobility and the FRIPRO project on early life socioeconomic exposures.
Research interests include molecular genetics, epigenetic mechanisms, and large-scale population studies. He integrates national registries and cohort data to disentangle direct and indirect genetic effects. Current projects examine genetic nurture effects, assortative mating patterns, and environmental sensitivity in child development.
His recent work analyzes over 460,000 individuals to map genetic associations with educational fields, and explores heterogeneity in neighborhood effects on child achievement. Articles often address maternal stress, ADHD traits, and mental health trajectories using genetically-informative designs.
Ystrøm serves as Associate Editor for JCPP Advances and collaborates in international networks like the European Social Science Genetics Network. He co-leads projects on post-pandemic resilience (SISU) and has published extensively in journals like PNAS, Nature Communications, and Molecular Psychiatry.
