Eivind Kasa

Eivind Kasa is an Associate Professor in Aesthetic Communication at the Department of Architecture and Technology, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). His academic journey includes a Cand. mag. from the University of Oslo (theology, sociology, psychology), a Civil Architect degree from NTH (NTNU) in 1987, and a Dr. ing. from NTNU in 2000. His work spans architectural aesthetics, design history, philosophical aesthetics, and methodology.

Research Interests: Kasa’s expertise focuses on architectural theory, the intersection of art and science, and philosophical ontology. He explores how aesthetic principles shape architectural and design practices through historical and theoretical lenses.

Professional Roles: Since 1998, he has held roles at NTNU, including Head of the Department of Architectural Design (2005–2009) and Editor-in-Chief of the Nordic Journal of Architectural Research (2006–2011). He has been a Fellow of the Royal Norwegian Society of Sciences and Letters since 2019.

Additional Contributions: He served on multiple boards, including the Nordic Association for Architectural Research (President 2004–2007) and the Programme for Applied Ethics (2005–2017). His sabbaticals included research at the Jan van Eyck Akademie (1993) and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (2003).
