Eirik Wold Sund

Eirik Wold Sund is a Doctoral Fellow at the Department of Maritime Law, Faculty of Law, University of Oslo since 2020. He is also affiliated with the Nordic Institute of Maritime Law. His research focuses on public law regulatory legislation as contract terms, with particular emphasis on contracts in the aquaculture industry.

Mr. Sund completed his Master of Laws degree in 2017. Prior to his doctoral studies, he worked as an Associate at Schjødt law firm (2017-2018) and as Senior Consultant in the Ministry of Justice's Legal Department (2018-2020), where he handled financial agreements, insurance law, and contract law matters.

His research spans aquaculture and fisheries law, contract law, maritime law, international sales law, property law, banking, finance, insurance law, and corporate law. He examines how regulatory frameworks translate into contractual arrangements, particularly in Norway's significant aquaculture sector, addressing complex intersections between environmental regulation, property rights, and commercial law.

His scholarly work shows a consistent focus on regulatory frameworks in maritime and aquaculture contexts, with publications examining aquaculture legislation, fisheries management, international sales law, and corporate governance. His research demonstrates practical policy relevance, often connecting theoretical legal frameworks with industry applications.

Mr. Sund serves as Editor of the Journal of Business Law (2020-2022) and is active in professional organizations including the Oslo Center for Commercial Law, where he participates in reference groups for Consumer Law and Arbitration. He has consulted for governmental bodies including the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries on offshore aquaculture permit regimes and served as lead author for a study on future aquaculture management.

He maintains strong connections with academic and professional communities through lectures at UiT (the Arctic University of Norway) and presentations at numerous seminars and conferences on maritime and aquaculture law topics.
