Professor Eileen S Cowey serves as Head of the Nursing & Health Care School within the School of Medicine, Dentistry & Nursing at the University of Glasgow. With a career spanning over three decades since qualifying as a nurse in 1991, she has established herself as a leading expert in stroke care and end-of-life nursing practices. Her leadership position oversees strategic direction, curriculum development, and international collaborations for a school consistently ranked highly for student satisfaction in UK league tables.
Professor Cowey's research program focuses primarily on stroke care, with particular expertise in end-of-life care, pain management, and palliative approaches following stroke.
