معرفی
Dr. Eileen McGowan is a Casual Academic in the Faculty of Science at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying cancer development, with an emphasis on hormone signaling, DNA repair pathways, and immunotherapy. Key areas include the role of progesterone in tumor microenvironments, sphingolipid signaling in inflammation, and the therapeutic potential of marine-derived compounds.
Her work spans interdisciplinary collaborations, yielding over 100 peer-reviewed publications. Notable contributions include studies on PTENP1’s oncogenic suppression via ceRNA networks, the modulation of DNA repair by sex steroids, and the exploration of fucoidans for enhancing cancer immunotherapy. She has also investigated sphingosine kinase isoforms’ clinical relevance in GI cancers and pioneered CAR-T cell therapies targeting solid tumors.
Dr. McGowan led a 2013–2014 UTS grant investigating P14ARF-P53 pathways in breast cancer recurrence. Her research integrates proteomics, pharmacology, and bioinformatics, aiming to bridge basic science with clinical applications. She maintains an active collaboration network and is available for supervision of Masters and PhD students in cancer biology and biomedical engineering.
