Efe Tokdemir is an Associate Professor of International Relations at Bilkent University, Turkey. He holds a B.A. from Boğaziçi University (2012), an M.A. (2015) from Binghamton University, SUNY, and a Ph.D. (2017) from the same institution. His career includes postdoctoral fellowships at The Ohio State University (2017-2018) and a visiting scholar position at The University of Chicago (2024-2025). He currently directs the Center for Foreign Policy and Peace Research.
His research focuses on behavioral and attitudinal responses to violent/non-violent strategies by state and non-state actors, bridging macro/micro-level analysis in security studies. Key areas include political violence, terrorism, public opinion, and foreign policy, often using multi-method approaches. His 2020 book Battle for Allegiance examines non-violent tactics in conflict dynamics.
Award highlights include the Young Scientist Award (BAGEP, 2019), Outstanding Young Scientist Award (GEBIP, 2020), and TUBITAK Incentive Award (2023). His work appears in Journal of Peace Research, Journal of Conflict Resolution, and others. Recent articles explore sanction effects, ethnic conflict dynamics, and refugee integration strategies.
His advisory and grant activities include directing research initiatives and contributing to policy-relevant studies on conflict prevention and international security. His work emphasizes practical policy implications for governments and international organizations.
