Dr Edwin Tan is a Senior Lecturer and Dementia Australia Research Foundation Mid-Career Research Fellow at the School of Pharmacy, University of Sydney. He holds a B.Pharm (Hons) and PhD, and is a registered pharmacist with clinical experience in Australia and the UK. His research focuses on pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacy practice, and dementia care, particularly optimizing antipsychotic prescribing for dementia patients.
He has published over 100 papers and secured $4.9M in research funding, including NHMRC, ARC, and Dementia Australia grants. Notable roles include Editorial Board memberships at *British Journal of Clinical Pharmacology* and *Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease*, and national leadership in the Australian Dementia Network and Australasian Society of Clinical and Experimental Pharmacologists and Toxicologists.
Current projects include co-designing a personalized medicine calculator for dementia patients and evaluating dementia diagnosis programs. He supervises multiple PhD, M.Phil, and Honours students, with prior supervision success across 14 undergraduate and postgraduate candidates.
Dr Tan’s awards include the 2018 Certara New Investigator Award and Mollie Holman Doctoral Medal (2015). His international collaborations span Sweden’s Karolinska Institutet and Harvard Medical School.
