Edwin Palacio Barco

Dr. Edwin Palacio Barco is an Associate Professor in Analytical Chemistry at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), affiliated with the Department of Chemistry. He holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Aix-Marseille (France) and serves as deputy head of the Environmental Analytical Chemistry Laboratory (LQA 2). His research focuses on developing analytical methods for trace elements and environmental pollution monitoring. He has authored 30 peer-reviewed publications (h-index 11) and 2 patents, and contributed to 19 national/international research projects funded by MINECO and regional authorities.

Research Interests: Methodology for trace/ultratrace element analysis, environmental monitoring of pollutants in air/water/soil, and industrial/agricultural impact assessment. Techniques include atomic spectroscopy and sample preparation innovations.

Teaching: Leads courses in Analytical Chemistry Experimentation, Instrumental Analysis, and Atomic Spectroscopy across undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs. Recent roles include tutoring for Chemistry and Environmental Engineering students.
