Edwin Palacio Barco

Dr. Edwin Palacio Barco is a Full Professor (Profesor Contratado Doctor, PCD) at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), affiliated with the Department of Chemistry and the Environmental Analytical Chemistry Group. He serves as Deputy Director of the Environmental Analytical Chemistry Laboratory (LQA2). His academic work spans environmental, industrial, and agri-food sample analysis, with a focus on trace elements, radiochemistry, and environmental quality assessment.

His research emphasizes qualitative/quantitative analytical methods for trace/ultra-trace elements and environmental monitoring of industrial, agricultural, and urban impacts. He contributes to interdisciplinary climate change research through the LINCC UIB laboratory and participates in environmental radiochemistry projects via LaboRA.

Teaching highlights include courses in Instrumental Analysis, Atomic Spectroscopy, and Environmental Chemistry Techniques across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs in Chemistry and Environmental Protection.
