Edward Wickham is a Fellow at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, holding positions as David Epps Fellow, Director of College Music, Director of Studies in Music, and Dean since 2006. He serves as an Affiliated Lecturer in the Faculty of Music at the University of Cambridge, teaching courses on Late Medieval and Renaissance music notation.
His academic foundation includes education at Oxford and King's College London, where he earned his PhD for research in 15th-century sacred music.
His research centers on performance and notational practices in 14th-16th century music, with current focus on text intelligibility within choral repertories. He actively commissions contemporary works and pursues interdisciplinary collaborations across musical traditions and media.

As an educator, he served as Course Director for the MMus in Choral Studies and directs St Catharine's choirs, which have achieved international acclaim through recordings on Resonus label, global tours to China and the USA, and regular BBC Radio broadcasts. His research includes a Wellcome Trust grant exploring musical intelligibility and hallucinations with speech scientists.
He co-directs the Cambridge Early Music Consort and Cambridge Institute of Renaissance Studies, and founded the Oxford and Cambridge Singing School and Cambridge Choral Academy to advance choral education.
