Edward Ren

Dr. Edward Ren (also known as Jiongyu Ren) is a Research Infrastructure Specialist (Histology) at Queensland University of Technology's Central Analytical Research Facility (CARF), working within the Academic Division of the Research Portfolio. He is an early-career researcher and postdoctoral research fellow at QUT with a PhD in Biomedical Engineering.

Dr. Ren's educational background in biomedical engineering has established his expertise in tissue engineering, biomaterials, biofabrication with melt electrospinning and melt-electrowriting, histology, microCT and microscopy. His research focuses on developing innovative biomaterials for regenerative medicine applications, with particular emphasis on bone and cartilage regeneration.

Dr. Ren's research interests encompass composite biomaterials development, bone and cartilage regeneration, mechanisms and treatment of bone-related diseases, and targeted drug delivery. His work demonstrates a strong technical foundation in creating and analyzing biomaterials that effectively support natural healing processes. He has made significant contributions to histology techniques, developing methods to reduce sample preparation time and costs while maintaining quality.

His publication record shows consistent productivity in high-impact journals including Scientific Reports, Advanced Functional Materials, and Science Advances. His research trajectory demonstrates progression from fundamental biomaterials science to more applied clinical solutions, with increasing focus on personalized medicine approaches.
