Edward Onaci serves as Associate Professor and Chair of History at Ursinus College. Holding a Ph.D. from UIUC, they teach courses on African American history, social movements, and gender politics using interdisciplinary and student-centered pedagogies like Reacting to the Past. Their scholarship focuses on the New Afrikan independence movement and Black Power activism.
Research examines revolutionary identity formation, carceral systems, and transnational liberation struggles. Their book 'Free the Land' analyzes the Republic of New Afrika, while articles explore naming practices and hip-hop's relationship to Black nationalism.
