معرفی
Professor Edward McCann is a Theoretical Physicist at Lancaster University, specializing in condensed matter theory and electronic properties of nanostructures. He leads research on graphene and other two-dimensional materials, focusing on quantum mechanical phenomena in phase-coherent systems (mesoscopic physics), including band gap engineering and Landau level degeneracy.
- Collaborations: University of California, Riverside; University of Geneva; Tohoku University
- Research Groups: Condensed Matter Theory; North West Nanoscience Doctoral Training Centre; Quantum Technology Centre
His work bridges theoretical predictions with experimental validation, notably in bilayer graphene (massive chiral fermions, 8-fold Landau level degeneracy) and trilayer graphene (stacking-dependent electronic properties). Recent publications explore topological superconductors, thermoelectric limitations, and soliton dynamics in layered systems. He has co-authored tutorial-style and review papers on graphene theory, widely used for advanced students.
PhD projects are available in graphene electronic modeling. Contact: e.mccann1@lancaster.ac.uk.
