Dr. Edward Jones is a Researcher at the Department of Physical Geography, Faculty of Geosciences, Utrecht University. His research focuses on modeling global water quality dynamics, wastewater management, and the interplay between climate change and water scarcity. Key areas include surface water pollution in sub-Saharan Africa, global hydrological modeling frameworks, and the energy-water nexus in water treatment technologies.
His doctoral thesis (2023) introduced the DynQual model, a high-resolution tool for simulating past and future surface water quality under climate and socio-economic change. Recent work highlights critical gaps in global water quality monitoring and identifies economic risks linked to water pollution in global markets.
Dr. Jones collaborates widely, with publications in Nature Climate Change, Environmental Research Letters, and Science of the Total Environment. His research bridges environmental science, policy, and computational modeling to address pressing water sustainability challenges.
